Pipe Classroom Training Curriculum (2-Day)

Day 1 (8:30-4:00 ET)

8:00 AM – Sign In & Introductions

8:30 AM – Step #1 (Overview) - The overview is an introduction to the Pipe program. You will learn the structure of the program, and how the information flows throughout the program.

  • Skills learned:

    • Basic navigation through the program

9:00 AM – Basic Set up - Set up a new folder, a new job, and a new zone.

  • Skills learned:

    • How to create a new job

    • How to add attachments (plan files) to the job

    • How to create a new zone in the job

    • How to set up the takeoff workspace

10:00 AM – Step #2 (Basic Takeoff) – How to do basic takeoff easily and efficiently.

  • Skills learned:

    • How to take off pipe, fittings, or valves

    • Using copy-paste, colors, auto-pipe

    • Audit trail usage, item edit, global edit

11:30 AM – Review- Q&A - A complete review of each step involved in setting up the program.

12:00 PM – Lunch (Buffet Provided)

1:00 PM – Step #3 (Editing Specs) - Customize Specifications.

  • Skills learned:

    • How to modify specifications

    • How to add items

    • Copying Form and To Specs

2:00 PM – Step #3 Continued (Advanced Takeoff) – Advanced tools and methods.

  • Skills learned:

    • Using Job Items and assemblies

    • Item Factor & Toolbar pallet

    • Copying Zones

3:00 PM – Takeoff Exercise – Perform takeoff of the sample plan.

  • Skills learned:

    • Managing your list of round and oval pressure files

    • Customizing pressure files

Day 2 (8:30-4:00 ET)

8:00 AM – Review from Day 1 and Q&A session.

9:00 AM – Step #4 (Calculation & Reporting) – Options for calculating, how to use the Quotes Tab and Reports.

  • Skills learned:

    • Calc Job, Calc Selected and Calc Pattern

    • Using the Quote tab to export and import

    • Reports Tab

10:00 AM – Step #5 (Data & Labor evaluation) – Adjust material pricing and labor for your productivity.

  • Skills learned:

    • How to validate material prices and labor values from takeoff

    • Pricing Services

    • How to setup and use material multipliers and labor factors

11:00 AM – Step #5 Continued (Database) - How the database works and how to add items.

  • Skills learned:

    • Database hierarchy

    • Understanding Joints

    • Using Edit All with Excel Export and Import

12:00 PM – Lunch

1:00 PM – Assemblies – Create and modify assemblies.

  • Skills learned:

    • Make new assemblies

    • Create variable assemblies

    • Edit assemblies on the fly

2:00 PM – Step #6 (Templates) - How to use the Excel template and make Job Templates.

  • Skills learned:

    • Interpreting the Final Estimate Summary

    • Using the Subcontractor, G&A and Equipment entry tabs

    • How to utilize the Recap tab

    • What customization options are available

    • Create Templates to make new job creation easier

3:00 PM – Open Class - Students can work independently and focus on the different areas of the program

here they feel they need more training or need more information on specific items with the help of the

QuoteSoft trainer. If you bring a USB drive, students can begin their own implementation work so they can

ake that back with them.
