Welcome to Insight Mobile

Insight Mobile lets you use your mobile device to perform many of the tasks that you perform using web-based Insight. You can access and run your saved Insight searches, perform new searches and use your current location as your search territory. Saving a new search on your mobile device automatically saves it to your web-based account. You can also use Insight Mobile to add projects and companies to your Watch List, view notes and search for project plans, specifications and addenda.  

Requirements

  • The ConstructConnect Mobile App currently runs on the Apple® iPhone®. Other device availability is pending future development. 
  • For more information about getting Insight Mobile, contact your ConstructConnect sales representative or customer care.

Using the Home screen

The Home screen is the main location in Insight Mobile and is where you start all of your tasks. The screen is set to automatically display projects matching your default search criteria. The tabs at the top of the screen let you switch between project and company views.

Viewing the project details screen

The project details screen displays all of the available information for the project, including name, location, and stage. 

  • Swipe up to see all of the information for the project. 

The following table describes the information displayed on the project screen.

IDThe ConstructConnect identification number for the project.
AddressThe physical address of the project.
PhoneThe phone number and email address of the construction representative for the project.
EmailThe email address for the person representing the project.
ValueThe dollar value of the project.
CategoryThe category for the project. See Working with the project list for a full list of project categories.
Bid DateThe date that the project goes to bid.
DocumentsWhen present, the number of documents for the project. Click on the link to open the project documents in Document Viewer.

Search Tags

When present, the color-coded tag and the search name for the search the project matches. Search tags are assigned to projects in order for you to see projects that match particular criteria.
Project Stakeholders
 Design Team

The companies that are playing a role on the project. Information includes role played, company name, contact name, phone and email address. Note that not all information may be present.

Note: Tap the star next to the listing to add the company to your Watch List.

 Prospective BiddersThe companies that are bidding on the project.
Project Description


ScopeThe general description of the work to be performed on the project.
NotesInformation added to the project listing. Notes can be both publicly visible and visible only to users within a company.
DetailsAll the known information for the project.
Recent UpdatesThe date updated and details of the most recent updates to the project listing, in descending chronological order.
Project ScheduleThe date and key milestones of the project schedule.

Sharing projects

You can share projects with other Insight users.

To share a project,

    • tap the share dongle on the upper right corner of the screen.
    • In your phone menu, select how you want to share the project.
      Note: Share recipients must have an Insight account to view the project.
    • tap the star on the upper right corner of the screen. A sold
    • on a project or company details page to email or share with another insight user.
    • You must have insight credentials to view a shared project or company.

Adding and removing projects to your Watch List

To add or remove a project from your Watch List,

    • tap the star at the top right side of the listing. A gold star indicates that the project is in your Watch List.
    • Tap the star again to remove the listing from your Watch List.



Viewing the company details screen

The company details screen displays all of the available information for the company, including name, location, and area of work. 

  • Swipe up to see all of the information for the company. 

The following table describes the information displayed on the company screen.

IDThe ConstructConnect identification number for the company.
NameThe company name, website, street address, and company phone and email address. Note that not all information may be present.

Company ContactsThe name, phone and email address of company contacts.
Recent Company UpdatesThe date the company listing is added and description of the most recent updates to the company listing.
Project Portfolio by Bid DateThe Project Portfolio section displays a pie chart illustrating the count and average budget for projects on which the company played the role of bidder. You can select to view this information by calendar year.
Projects

The Projects section lists projects with the following status:

  • Planning
  • Bidding
  • Post Bid

Tap the stage name to see the projects in the selected stage. The count of projects for each status is displayed at the top of the section. Each project contains a description, value, category, bid date and any documents. Also included is the status and a link to any contacts for the project.

Sharing companies

You can share companies with other Insight users. and add and remove Watch List companies from the company details screen.

To share a project,

    • tap the share dongle on the upper right corner of the screen.
    • In your phone menu, select how you want to share the project.

    • Tap the star again to remove the listing from your Watch List.


Using your Watch List

Your Watch List displays the projects and companies that you have selected to follow for future development. Your accounts for web-based and mobile are linked, so your full list is always available and up to date on either your phone or your web-based Insight accounts.  

The following table describes how you can use your Watch List on your mobile account. 

If you want to...Then...
view your Watch List

tap Watch List at the bottom of the screen.

add or remove a project or company listing from your Watch List

tap the star at the top of the listing. A gold star indicates that the listing is in your Watch List

view the details for a project or company

tap the text of the listing. 

switch between project or company listings

tap Projects or Companies at the top of the screen.

sort the list

tap the sort field at the top of the screen and select from the following sort options: 

    • Last Update Date (date of most recent significant update to the project or company listing)
    • Name A to Z
    • Name Z to A
    • Project Value Asc (project only)
    • Project Value Desc (project only)


Searching in Insight Mobile

You can use the Insight Mobile search feature just as you would the web-based version. The  same projects, companies and documents available on your web-based Insight account are available for your mobile search. You can run a new search, run any of your saved web-based searches and run a geographic search based on your current location within a 25-mile radius. You can use document search and see your search keywords highlighted anywhere they appear in project documents.  

Running a saved search

To run a saved search, 

  • with the Search menu displayed, tap Saved from the top of the screen to display your saved searches. 
  • Tap to run the selected saved search.
  • See Filtering search results for information about applying filters to your results.
    Note: Saved searches can only be edited and renamed from your web-based Insight account. 

 

Running a new search

To run a new search,

Access the search menu by tapping Search at the bottom of the screen.

Select the search type you want to run by tapping one of the following search types in the list:

  • Project
  • Company
  • Document

Note: You can use document search to see your keywords highlighted in project documents. For more information see Searching for documents.

Start typing your search terms in the top search field.

Note: Boolean search is currently supported for Insight Mobile.

Result: The results screen displays suggested words and phrases to your search terms.

Note: By default the most recent data source is used, either your subscription entitlement or your current location.

To change the data source,

    • tap in the search data source field box
    • select the data source you want to used
    • tap Search from the bottom of the screen.
      Result: The results matching your search terms and

Note that you must allow the Insight Mobile app to access your current location to use geographic location searching.

Tap Search at the bottom of the screen to run the search.

Result: The search runs and the projects and companies that match your search terms are displayed.

Note: For document searches, the number of matching documents is displayed in the body of the project details screen. See the section on Document Viewer for more information.

 

Filtering search results   

To filter your search results,  

1Access the filters menu by clicking the Filter icon in the top right corner of screen.

Select from the following categories for filtering your results:

  • Bid Date - Select number of days before the project goes to bid.
  • Project Value - Use the sliders to narrow the value of the projects in the results.
  • Categories - Select the range of categories branching from Civil or General.
  • Company Types - Select from a range of company types.
  • Stages - Select from top and second- level stages of Planning, Bidding, Post Bid and Miscellaneous.

Note: Subcategories are available when there is a right-arrow > next to a filter class.

Once you select your filters, click View Results to see the matches to your filter settings.

Note: Click Reset All to clear all filter settings.

 

Sorting your search results

To sort your search results,

tap the second bar at the top of the screen and select the sort order. Note that the default sort order is by the most recent update to the project or company listing. You can also select from the following sort orders:

  • Name A to Z
  • Name Z to A
  • Project Value Asc (project only)
  • Project Value Desc (project only)

 

Saving your search

Your saved mobile searches are also available on your web-based Insight account. 

To save a search, 

  • when you are viewing the search results, tap the file diskette icon at the top right of the screen. 
  • In the Create a saved search menu, enter the name for the search and then tap Save search

Result: The search is saved to both your mobile and web-based Insight accounts. 

Using the Settings menu

You can use the Settings menu to set up project and company alerts, access mobile tutorials, view trade use conditions and to access customer care. 

The Settings menu has the following sections: 


Setting up project and company notifications

The Notifications menu lets you set up alerts for your Watch List projects and companies. Alerts occur when there are significant updates to a project or company listing, such as projects with updated planning or bid dates and companies that have added a project.   

Setting your notification alerts to On allows ConstructConnect to send updates to your device. The update frequency Periodic Daily sends push notifications at 8:30AM, 1:00PM and 7:30 PM Eastern Time. 

You can set up alerts when projects reach the following key milestones:  

Planning Stage Updates

  • Pre-Design - when the project enters the pre-design phase.
  • Schematic Design - when the project enters the schematic design phase. 
  • Design Development - when the project enters the design development phase. 
  • Construction Documents - when a project enters the construction documents phase. 

Bid Stage

  • Dates Set - when a pre-bid meeting or bid date is set.
  • Posting Updates - when plans, specifications and addenda are posted to a project listing.

Post Bid

  • Post Bid - when an award has been made to a project.  


Accessing and viewing documents

The document viewer feature lets you view the plans, specifications and addenda attached to projects. When you use a keyword search, your keyword is highlighted anywhere it appears in project documents.  

Project documents can be one of the following categories: 

  • Matching Documents - This is the total number of documents for the project. 
  • Specifications
  • Plans
  • Specifications Addenda

Note that the blue number next to the document type is the number of documents for that type. 

To search for documents and highlighted keywords,

Tap Search on the bottom of the screen.

In the top search bar, select Document as your search type.

3In the second bar, either accept the default setting Within Subscription or tap in the field and then select Use Current Location in the display. This sets the search parameter to within a fifty mile radius of your current location.

Enter your keyword in the search field.

Note: You must use a keyword in order to see it highlighted in project documents.

Tap Search

Results: The first matching project is displayed in the window. Scroll down to see the full set of returned projects.

On a project listing, tap the number of documents for the project in the Document section.

Result: Document viewer opens showing the documents for the project.
Note: A document highlighted in green indicates that the keyword is included in the document.

Tap the green sidebar arrow to open the document list for the project. Note that when keywords are used, the first instance of your keyword is highlighted in green and red.
