Minimum System Requirements are just that, minimums for the software to run, however they will not provide an optimal experience for using QuoteSoft Duct 4. We also provide “Recommendations” and encourage you to meet or exceed those to make your time using Duct 4 the most productive.

If your company choses to employ network storage for your QuoteSoft data, you still install the product (Duct, Pipe, FabShop, etc.) on each users computer/workstation. Then, you install the related data “Server” (SQL Express) on your network server, then point your users to that location to access/save data.

Overall, you want to exceed Microsoft’s System Requirements for whatever version of SQL you’re using.

ConstructConnect has not tested Duct 4 on Windows 11, but there are no technical reasons it should not work. Just make sure your hardware is up to the task of running Windows and Duct 4Local Network Windows OS Network Servers with SSD drives or RAID arrays preferred. Offsite (WAN/remote) or Cloud-based Servers not recommended due to speed and bandwidth limitations. Using an unstable (internet) connection to connect QuoteSoft products to their databases may result in lost or corrupt data. |
SQL Server
By default, we install SQL Express. There are some limitations when using databases served by SQL Express, most notably, the number of concurrent transactions and overall database size tend to be too low for sharing among product users. If you are sharing a data store (database) between users, you need to upgrade your SQL Server to Standard or Enterprise. Please contact a certified SQL installer for assistance.
CPU (Processor)

Intel compatible 1GHz processor or faster (this likely will not provide acceptable performance)
Recommended
Intel Core i5 or faster
See Microsoft’s System Requirements for the Server Edition you are using. Any modern (2022) high-end processor should provide adequate performance.
Memory

32 64 GB RAM or more - each concurrent user will drain some system resources, so maximize your system RAM to prevent performance issues.
Hard Drive/Storage
3 6 GB Hard drive space for installation and 40-100GB per year/per estimator; solid state drive recommendedSSD drives or RAID arrays preferred.
Microsoft SQL Express is installed with QuoteSoft products. SQL Express is limited to databases no larger than 10GB which may not meet your business needs. QuoteSoft supports Microsoft SQL 2014 Standard or Enterprise support much larger (524 petabytes) database size, adjust the size of your hard drive storage according to your business needs.

If you employ a WAN (which is not recommended), a minimum Network upload and download speed of 500 Mbps is required. As noted above, internet connections are inherently unstable (compared to an ethernet connection) and may result in lost or corrupt data.

SQL Server 2012, 2014, and 2017 (full or express versions), see CLS - Using SQL with Classic Products for more information. If you are using an older version of SQL, you must upgrade SQL before installing any OCS product updates.
Apple Users
There are two environments in which supported products may be installed on an Apple computer running MAC OSX:
Bootcamp - this is a separate partition from MAC OSX on which a stand-alone installation of Windows is running. This allows the user to run Windows OR MAC OSX but not both at the same time. Because this is "normal" installation of Windows, this environment is supported.
Parallels (or any other virtualization product) - this allows a MAC OSX user to run a virtualized installation of Windows within the MAC OSX environment. This is not a stand-alone installation of Windows, it is sort of running Windows within a window, so to speak. ConstructConnect cannot provide technical support for this installation, although, as stated above, there is no technical reason this would not workSQL Server requires Domain Admin privileges for installation.
