8:30 AM – Step #1 (Overview) - The overview is an introduction to the Duct 4 program. You will learn the structure of the program, and how the information flows throughout the program.

9:00 AM – Basic Set up - Set up a new folder, a new job, and a new zone.

• Skills learned:

  • How to create a new job

  • How to add attachments (plan files) to the job

  • How to create a new zone in the job

  • How to set up the takeoff workspace

10:00 AM – Step #2 (Basic Takeoff) – How to do basic takeoff easily and efficiently.

• Skills learned:

  • How to take off rectangular, round and catalog items

  • Using Scope Info and components during zone takeoff

  • Using copy-paste, colors, auto-scale

  • Audit trail usage, item edit, global edit

11:30 AM – Review- Q&A - A complete review of each step involved in setting up the program.

12:00 PM – Lunch (Buffet Provided)

1:00 PM – Step #3 (Central Data) - Customize the Central Data files with your materials & costs.

• Skills learned:

  • How to edit in Central Data

  • How to use the tools provided in Central data

  • Entering materials and costs in “Data File”

2:00 PM – Central data (Rectangular Pressure Files) - Define your SMACNA standard for rectangular ductwork.

• Skills learned:

  • Managing your list of rectangular pressure files

  • Customizing pressure files

3:00 PM – Central data (Round / Oval pressure files) - Define your SMACNA standards for round and oval ductwork.

• Skills learned:

  • Managing your list of round and oval pressure files

  • Customizing pressure files

Day 2 (8:30-4:00 ET)

8:00 AM – Review from Day 1 and Q&A session.

9:00 AM – Step #4 Continued (Catalog files & Bookmarks) - Use Bookmarks in takeoff to access catalog items.

• Skills learned:

  • How to set up bookmark groups

  • How to bookmark catalog items

  • How to use bookmarks in takeoff

10:00 AM – Step #5 (Data & Labor evaluation) – Adjust material pricing and labor for your productivity.

• Skills learned:

  • How to validate material prices and labor values from takeoff

  • Validation tools in takeoff

  • Factors & Overrides in takeoff

11:00 AM – Step #6 (Reports- Analytics) - Learn how to use the reports workspace and utilize the Analytics

palette.

• Skills learned:

  • Basic reports workspace understanding & navigation

  • Understanding, usage, and manipulation of the Analytics palette

  • Exporting from Analytics

  • What customization options are available (Excel only)

12:00 PM – Lunch

1:00 PM – Step #6 (Reports) - Run reports and understand the reporting options.

  • Run the static reports

  • Run the Excel reports

  • How to read the reports

  • What customization options are available (Excel)

2:00 PM – Step #6 (Reports-QS Summary Excel) - How to use the Excel template.

• Skills learned:

  • Interpreting the QS Summary

  • Using the Subcontractor, G&A and Equipment entry tabs

  • How to utilize the Recap tab

  • What customization options are available

3:00 PM – Open Class - Students can work independently and focus on the different areas of the program

where they feel they need more training or need more information on specific items with the help of the QuoteSoft trainer. If you bring a USB drive, students can begin their own implementation work so they can

take that back with them.
