Working with the Insight: Companies page

The Insight: Companies page lists both the companies that are a match with your Insight CRM search and the companies imported directly into your account. You can use the features on the Insight: Companies page to filter and sort the company list, search for specific terms in companies and view the Salesforce listing for each company.
Note: The companies in the list are acting as participants on the projects displayed on the Insight: Searchpage.

How to use the Insight: Companies page
The Insight: Companies page lists the companies that are a match with your Insight CRM search or are companies imported directly into your Salesforce account. You can use the features on the page to review the companies for potential accounts other options.
To use the Insight: Companies page,
- use the features on the page to sort, filter, and search the list of companies. You can also view the Insight details pages for the companies. Use the topics in this section for more information about performing these tasks.
- To view the details of a company in Salesforce, click on the Name value in the column list to open the related details page. From there you can review and select the company for an account or other or other options. For more information, see the Help topic next to each feature on the related page.
Applying View filters
You can apply a global filter to all of the companies in your account by using the View feature at the top of the page.
To apply a View filter,
- in the View menu, select the option to use.
Result: The menu refreshes and the companies displayed match your selected option.
The following page describes the options you can use in the View menu.
Option | Description |
All Project Companies | Companies assigned to your Salesforce account. These can be companies both associated and not associated with projects in your account. |
Project Companies from Projects w/ Recent Bid Status Change(s) | Companies associated with projects that have recent changes in the associated project bid status. |
Project Companies from Recently Awarded Project(s) | Companies that have bid awards within the last 24 hours. |
Recently Updated Project Companies | Companies with recent updates to the company listing within the last 24 hours. |
Recently Viewed Project Companies | Companies that you have viewed in Salesforce within the last 24 hours. |
Recently Imported Project Companies | Companies recently imported into your Salesforce account with the last 24 hours. |
Selecting and ordering the columns
You can select up to 10 column values to display in the window. You can also select the left to right column order along the page.
Note: For a description of the column values, see Understanding company column values.
To open the column selection menu,
- click My Columns in the upper right section of the page.
To select the columns to display,
- in the menu, select values in the Available Fields menu and then click the arrow for Add to move them to the Selected Fields menu.
To order the columns along the page,
- select the value in the Selected Fields menu and then click the arrow for either Up or Down.
Searching the companies in the list
The search feature at the top of the page lets you locate words that are used in the company listings on the page.
Note: You can only perform a simple search. Advanced and Boolean searching is not currently supported.
To search listings,
- enter the search terms in the search bar at the top of the page and then click the spy glass icon.
Result: The menu refreshes with the listings that match your search terms.
Note: Click the Insight: Companies tab at the top of the window to reset the page.
Using the Filters menu
You can apply filters to the companies in the list to get the results that you need.
To use the Filters menu,
- select the filtering option from the list and then click Apply.
Result: The list refreshes with the revised results. Click Clear Filters to reset the menu.
Notes:
- To see all filters for an option, click the arrow > to expand the option menu.
- You can still apply filtering options even when the column for the selected option is not currently displayed in the window.
The following table describes all of the options that you can use to filter your companies list.
Field | Description |
Company Location | You can select United States and Canada, and all states, counties and provinces respectively. |
Company Type Stage | Select to filter by the type of work that the company performs on a project. You can select both types and sub-types. |
Open Project Value | Select the range to filter by the value of companies in your account. |
Total Material Demand | Select the range for the estimated value of materials used on a project. For more information, see Material Demand FAQs. |
Understanding company column values
The following table describes the column values on the My Insight:Company page.
Field | Description |
Company ID | The Insight ID for the company. |
Created By | The date the record was created. |
Created Date | The person that created the record. |
City | The city where the company is located. |
Fax | The fax number for the company. |
Insight Company Detail URL | The URL for the company listing in Insight. |
Insight Participant Total Project Value | The total value for all projects in which the company is a participant. |
Last Modified By | The person that made the most recent update to the company listing and the date the modification was made. |
Last Modified Date | |
Last Referenced Date | The most recent date that the company listing was either viewed or assigned a lead creation by the system administrator. |
Last Updated | The date of the last update to the company record. |
Last Viewed Date | The date the company listing was last viewed by the user assigned the company. |
Name | The name of the company. |
Owner ID | The Insight ID for the person identified as the company owner or contact. |
City | The mailing address city for the company. |
County | The county for the company mailing address |
Postal Code | The mailing zip code for the company. |
State / Province | The state or province for the company mailing address. |
Street | The street address for the company. |
Country | The country for the company, either United States or Canada. |
Owner ID | The person assigned the company or contact record. |
Parent Role | The role that the company plays when there are multiple companies on a project and the company is the lead participant. |
Phone | The phone number for the company. |
Role | The role that the company generally plays on projects. |
Total Open Project Material Demand Value | The total estimated project value where the company is a participant using RS Means Material Demand. For more information, see Material Demand FAQs. |
Type | The role that the company typically plays on a project, such as Accommodations/Hospitality or Utilities. |
