Working with the Insight: Contacts page

The Insight: Contacts page lists the contacts that are associated with the companies in your account. You can use the features on the Insight: Contacts page to filter and sort the contact list, search for specific terms in contacts and view the project listing in Salesforce.

How to use the Insight: Contacts page

The Insight: Contacts page lists the contacts that are associated with the companies in your Salesforce account. You can use the features on the page to review the contacts for potential use in your account.  

To use the Insight: Contacts page,

  • use the features on the page to sort, filter, and search the list of contacts. You can also view the Insight details pages for the contacts. Use the topics in this section for more information about performing these tasks. 

  • To view the details of a contact in Salesforce, click on the Contact Name value in the column list to open the related details page. From there you can review and select the contact for potential use in your account. For more information, see the Help topic next to each feature on the related page.  

Applying View filters

You can apply a global filter to the full list of contacts by using the View feature at the top of the page. 

To apply a View filter, 

  • in the View menu, select the option to use. 
    Result: The menu refreshes and the contacts displayed match your selected option. 

The following page describes the options you can use in the View menu. 

OptionDescription
All Project ContactsThe total number of contacts associated with the projects in the Search tab. Note that contacts are no longer shown in this list once the contact is converted to a Salesforce contact.
My Project ContactsAll contacts associated with the projects in your account.
Recently Updated Project ContactsContacts with updates within the last 24 hours.
Recently Viewed Project ContactsContact listings that you have viewed in Salesforce within the last 24 hours.
Recently Imported Project ContactsContacts imported into your Salesforce account within the last 24 hours.


Selecting and ordering the columns

You can select up to 10 columns to be displayed in the window. You can also select the left to right column order along the page.

To open the column selection menu

    • click My Columns in the upper right section of the page.

To select the columns to display

    • in the menu, select values in the Available Fields menu and then click the arrow for Add to move them to the Selected Fields menu. 

To order the columns along the page

    • select the value in the Selected Fields menu and then click the arrow for either Up or Down 

Searching the contacts in the list

The search feature at the top of the page lets you locate words that are used in contact listings. 

Note: You can only perform a simple search. Advanced and Boolean searching is not currently supported. 

To search listings, 

  • enter the search terms in the search bar at the top of the page and then click the spy glass icon.

Result: The menu refreshes with the listings that match your search terms. 

Note: Click the Insight: Contacts tab at the top of the window to reset the page. 

Using the Filters menu

You can apply filters to the contacts in the list to get the exact results that you want.  

To use the Filters menu, 

  • select the filtering option from the list and then click Apply

Result: The list refreshes with the revised results. Click Clear Filters to reset the menu. 

Notes:

  • To see all filters for an option, click the arrow >  to expand the option menu.
  • You can still apply filtering options even when the column for the selected option is not currently displayed in the window.  

The following table describes all of the options that you can use to filter your contacts list. Note that the maximum number of columns you can display is ten.

Contact LocationYou can select United States and Canada, and all states, counties and provinces respectively.
Contact Type

The type of work associated with the contact.

Open Project ValueThe total value of the projects for all the contacts in your account.
Project Last UpdatedUse the date menu to select the range for the most recent update to the project listing. All date ranges are selected by default.
Total Material Demand ValueThe total Material Demand value of the projects associated with the contacts in your account. For more information, see Material Demand FAQs.

Understanding the contact column values

The following table describes the column values of the columns on the My Insight:Contacts page

FieldDescription
CompanyThe company associated with the contact.
Contact IDThe Insight ID for the company associated with the contact.
Contact NameThe name of the company contact.
Created ByThe date the record was created.
Created DateThe person that created the record.
EmailThe email address for the contact.
FaxThe fax number for the contact.
First NameThe first name of the contact
Insight Company IDThe Insight ID for the company. For contacts, the company associated with the contact.
Insight Participant Total Project ValueThe total value for all projects in which the company for the contact is playing a role.
Lead SourceThe source for the lead, which is Insight.
Last Modified ByThe person that made the most recent update to the contact listing.
Last Modified DateThe date of the most recent update to the contact listing.
Last NameThe last name of the contact.
Last Referenced DateThe most recent date that the contact was either viewed or assigned a lead creation by the system administrator.
Last Viewed DateThe last date the record was viewed by the account owner for the contact.
Linked-In ProfileThe URL for the LinkedIn profile for the contact.
Mailing CityThe mailing address city for the contact.
Mailing CountyThe county for the contact mailing address
Mailing Postal CodeThe mailing zip code for the contact.
Mailing State / ProvinceThe state or province for the contact mailing address.
Mailing StreetThe street address for the contact.
Mailing CountryThe country for the contact, either United States or Canada.
OwnerThe person assigned the company or contact record.
PhoneThe phone number for the contact.
TitleThe business title for the contact.
Total Open Project Material Demand ValueThe total estimated project value where the company for the contact is a participant using RS Means Material Demand. For more information, see Material Demand FAQs.
TypeThe role that the company for the contact typically plays on a project, such as Accommodations/Hospitality or Utilities.
